Saint Thomas' Church
Saint Thomas is a welcoming, friendly Church. We may be small in numbers but are big in commitment and enthusiasm. There is a monthly Bible Study led by our Reader and we get together with our sister Church of St. Peters’ for Lent and Advent courses. We have good links with St. Peters’ and join in each other’s social events.
There are many social events at St. Thomas including Coffee Mornings, Church Fairs, Concerts, Bingo, Beetle Drives, Quiz Night and Jumble Sales. External groups use the Church for Quilting, Coffee & Craft, Pilates and Music Group Practice.
We have good links with Alexandra Nursing Home next door to the Church and Holly Court Warden controlled flats on Pimhole Road and provide Holy Communion to them once a month.
We are looking at re-ordering the Nave and creating a space for community use. We feel that God is opening new possibilities of outreach for the future. In faith, hope and love we pray that God will enable us to remain a Christian presence in this community serving people ‘where they are’.
The Parish of Roch Valley was formed on 30th November 2010 when, as a result of Bury Deanery’s Pastoral re-organisation, the former parishes of St. Peter, St. Thomas, and Holy Trinity, Bury were combined to form a new parish. There have been slight changes to the boundaries and the estimated population of the new Parish is 14,552 (provisional 2011 census figure).
