St Andrew's, Bromley Cross
Walmsley Parish has two churches: Christ Church Walmsley, located on Blackburn Road in Egerton (BL7 9SA) and St. Andrew's Church, on John Street, Bromley Cross (BL7 9BA). We are in the PARISH of WALMSLEY, part of the TURTON MOORLAND TEAM of six churches.
"Building partnership in Christ, church and community"
PUBLIC WORSHIP is vibrant and active in WALMSLEY PARISH. Our weekly Sunday Services are at Christ Church Walmsley at 9.30am and at St. Andrew's Church, Bromley Cross at 11am where you will be made very welcome.
The services are led mainly by our Team Vicar, Reverend Carol Hayden, and on the last Sunday of the month at St. Andrew's by Canon David Dunn, a retired minister.
At Christ Church Walmsley, we have a midweek Communion Service on a Wednesday at 11am and a mid-week INTERACTIVE service for children AND their parents at 6pm on a THURSDAY.
On the FIRST SUNDAY of the month, our lively, FAMILY ‘ALL AGE’ SERVICE (NO COMMUNION) at Christ Church Walmsley - with music by RIVER OF LIFE and percussion accompaniments by the children - is held at Christ Church Walmsley at 9.30am, preceded by a quiet, spoken Communion Service at 8am
On a Sunday evening, we have tried new and traditional styles of worship:
Since the beginning of 2022, our Authorised Lay Minister for Prayer and Spirituality has prepared something different for the 1st Sunday @ 4pm. In January, we held a fun Christingle Service; in February, Celtic Worship; in March a Taizé Service. For April, there was a reflective prayer and worship event and in May, a Service for Praise and Thanksgiving. PLEASE NOTE: Evening Services on the 1st Sunday of the month are now on hold until the autumn.
On the 3rd Sunday @ 6pm, Reverend Carol led a HEALING SERVICE in January, February, March and April. These have now paused, but we look forward to hearing from you what kinds of services you would appreciate. Thank you,
2nd ~ 4th ~ 5th Sundays @ 6pm: EVENSONG at Christ Church Walmsley
COVID Precautions in church – Be considerate
Please respect the space of others and that others will genuinely feel very differently about covid from the way you do. There is no right answer, there is a range of views; we should all be considerate and respectful of others.
