The ancient church of St Peter stands next to the River Tyne with the river flowing round the southern and eastern boundaries. The market cross reminds us of a once thriving village community which has long gone. The church is currently the parish church for the village of Stocksfield, to the south of the River Tyne. It has many interesting Saxon and medieval features and is open in daylight hours for those who wish to enter for prayer or to enjoy the history and beauty.
