Final Day of the St Aidan’s Pilgrimage

Occurring
for 13 hours
Venue
Holy Saviour, Tynemouth
Address
, United Kingdom

The final leg of the diocesan pilgrimage in the spirit of St Aidan from Holy Island to Newcastle Cathedral takes place on Saturday 31st October. Any one is invited join in the last part of this journey, whether or not you have been involved in any of the previous stages (which included finishing and starting at St Lawrence, Warkworth in June and July respectively).

We will be gathering at Holy Saviour, Tynemouth at 10am on 31st October. The opening service will either take place there or in the grounds of Tynemouth Priory, but in either case Holy Saviour is the meeting place since it has toilets for anyone who may need them. This church is near Tynemouth Metro.

The plan is to stop for lunch between 1 and 1.30pm at St Peter’s, Wallsend, and arrive at Newcastle Cathedral by 4pm where the pilgrimage will finish with a celebration of the Eucharist.

The walk is just under 12 miles, but if anyone wanted to walk just a part of it you’d be able to find public transport back to the city centre, e.g from Wallsend.

Unfortunately, the metro is not running between Newcastle and Tynemouth that week (closed for maintenance), so there will be a rail replacement service along that route.

If anyone wants to join in and travel to Tynemouth together, please contact Gilly Maude (07527 169016). We’ll need to catch the 08:09 or 08:29 train from Alnmouth.
