We were delighted to be joined by Bishop Meyrick, welcomed back to our Benefice after our Confirmation in March, as he preached our penultimate sermon at Steane this year.
This year our sermon series has followed the history of the Temple in Scripture. Bishop Meyrick preached our fifth sermon in the series, calling upon his extensive knowledge of places of worship and Holy Scripture.
We were joined by 77 people who came to join our Book of Common Prayer Evensong. Attendance at Steane this year has not dropped below 50, making it one of our more popular services in the year, only falling below Benefice Services and Festivals, and the combined attendance across the Benefice on an ordinary Sunday.
We hold 6 Evensong services each year at St. Peter's chapel, in accordance with practice first laid out in the Will of the Countess of Aaron, now buried at St. Peter's. Do join us at our future services, advertised across the Benefice. Our thanks to Bishop Meyrick for generously coming to our service, for staying after to meet with congregants, to offer blessings, and to share a new hymn that he wrote for our service.
