St Botolph's is an active church that values a range of good quality worship. There is a small but keen choir. Members of the congregation assist with playing the organ or a good quality keyboard. If appropriate the Rector, Revd Dave Maylor leads the singing with his guitar.
The congregation has a strong sacramental base but also reaches out to families through appropriate services and worship material (see service section).
The village has a strong connection to the poet John Clare and there are information boards, put up by the John Clare Society, in church to the left of the entrance. His grave and those of his parents are on the SE side of the churchyard.
The church is heated by an environmentally sensitive system.
The parish is the subject of a pastoral scheme which will see it leave the Glinton group of 6 and join Barnack, Bainton and Wittering which are all connected by the B1443. Helpston remains nominally with the Glinton group pending the changes.
