Getting here

People have worshipped at the Parish Church of St John the Baptist for more than 900 years. The original church, and the nave, is Norman. The building has been extended with aisles added in the 12th and 13th centuries, and the chancel in the 14th century. The Tower was added in the 16th century, and the spire is 17th century.

In more recent times the church has been updated by installing a modern lighting system, repairs to the roof and windows, new central heating, replacing the pews with more flexible seating and building a new toilet and kitchen extension.

This has been achieved through fund-raising and the use of reserves.

In 2016, following a period of substantial fund raising (in excess of £30,000 locally) and successful grant applications (especially £108,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund), repairs totalling over £150,000 to the tower, spire and walls has been completed. A magnificent outcome for a small parish church.
