Yarmouth - St James

PART OF THE WEST WIGHT MISSION COMMUNITY

ST JAMES IS OPEN EACH DAY FOR PERSONAL PRAYER AND FOR VISITORS FROM AROUND 9AM TO 4PM.

St James' Church sits at the heart of the small coastal town of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. In the spring and summer months the town welcomes many visitors but still has an active year round community of local residents who value St James' Church and its' role in the local community.

The church is a Grade 2* listed building of historical significance and is one of the 4 Churches and 3 Parishes which make up the West Wight Church Community of FYT Parishes (along with All Saints Church, Freshwater; St Agnes Church, Freshwater Bay and Christ Church in Totland Bay). The FYT Parishes, in turn, sit within the emerging West Wight Mission Community which stretches from Shorwell to Newtown and from Calbourne to Totland Bay.

Safeguarding - The parish of Yarmouth: St James is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Portsmouth’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
