Groups - spiritual, social, community

At St Mark's we have a number of groups which meet regularly in people's homes for prayer, studying the Bible, getting to know one another and sharing together.

We have groups for children which meet during our 10am Sunday service on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month (when we have Holy Communion services). A monthly group for young people (of secondary school age) takes place from 5pm on the first Sunday of each month.

Our Social Committee organises a programme of social events throughout the year, including quizzes, family events and shared lunches, to which all are welcome.

During Lent (the period of forty days leading up to Easter) we run weekly groups with a focus on an aspect of our spirituality.

We regularly have groups of young people and of adults preparing for Confirmation (to affirm publicly their Christian faith, enter the Church of England and receive the Holy Spirit). Annually we run a short preparation course for children to be admitted to Holy Communion. We also run a short marriage preparation course annually.

There are many opportunities for church members to volunteer, work together and use our talents for others.
