About Us

St Jude's is a warm, friendly and welcoming church. We are in the Anglo-catholic tradition, using modern Common Worship liturgy for most services.

We do not claim to be a 'trendy' church (we enjoy traditional hymns and music, for example), but have as our emphasis reverent worship and a prayerful atmosphere, with an appropriate balance between ministry of word and sacrament. Traditional we may be, but we are not too serious or over-formal: there are many occasions when we simply have fun and enjoy ourselves, as any family should.

St Jude's has had an important part to play in the life of the local community since the church was built in 1894; in these changing times of the 21st century we seek to continue to love and serve the people of Hexthorpe to the best of our ability. The church 'plant' includes an excellent modern hall which is a popular venue for many different groups. Visitors to St Jude's are most welcome: it is always good to see new faces coming to join in worship and other activities with our church family.
