Welcome to St George and All Saints
Welcome to the Parish of St George and All Saints’, Douglas in the Diocese of Sodor and Man. Whether you are a long time resident, new to the area, visiting or searching for a spiritual home we would love to welcome you.
We aim to share the life and love of Jesus with all people. Whether you are familiar with the Christian faith or you want to find out what Christians believe and what the Bible really has to say to us today, we hope our website will help answer some of your questions. Of course, we would love to meet you face to face and whether you are looking for a church to celebrate your wedding or child’s baptism, family friendly worship or something a bit more traditional, or Biblical teaching in a world that has lost its way, we hope you will drop by and join us at one of our services.
At St George's we believe in radical hospitality and we aim to be a warm and welcoming church to people of all ages. Please see the services and events page for the times of our services.
St George's is the civic church of the Isle of Man and of Douglas, the island's capital. Our Vicar is the Venerable Irene Cowell, who also serves as the Archdeacon of Man, and we have a Ministry Team of ordained and lay ministers who help support the life of the parish.
We have a PlaySpace at the rear of church for babies and toddlers and Children's Church which meets in the lobby of the church during the main morning service each Sunday. We serve freshly brewed, fairly traded tea and coffee with biscuits after the 10.30 service.
We have a service of Evening Prayer most Sundays. Due to the number of Civic and special services we have on a Sunday afternoon, occasionally the evening service is cancelled, but this is usually advertised well in advance. Where possible we have a quiet Taize style service on the 1st Sunday evening of the month. We also offer a quiet short service of Compline on a Friday at 6pm.
The Vicar and others are exploring establishing a New Wine congregation in addition to our usual Sunday offering. We have had a number of New Wine gatherings in the last year and are looking forward to starting them again in the near future.
Sunday morning Services are live-streamed, as is Friday Compline and we aim to make the church accessible to all.
The church building and grounds offer a quiet space, an 'oasis' in the heart of the business, financial and administrative district of Douglas. We are keen to offer facilities to people who live and work in the city and offer a mid week lunchtime Bible Study Group and Community Choir. Details can be found elsewhere on this website.
We pray that whether you are a casual visitor or a regular worshipper that you will be blessed . We would love to welcome you to join us!
