The Parish of St George and All Saints Douglas

Now combined and worshipping in St George's church, the oldest church building in Douglas.  St George’s is developing its ministry as a Civic Church and concert venue.

St George's
We are a warm and welcoming church to people of all ages. Please see our web page for dates and time of services.

St George's is the civic church of the Isle of Man and of Douglas, the island's capital. Our Vicar is the Archdeacon of Man, and we have a Ministry Team of ordained and lay ministers who support him in his parish duties. We have a peel of 12 bells and a fine, new organ, played brilliantly by our organist Nicholas J Roberts B.Mus.(Hons.), P.G.C.E., Dip. Sp.L.D.

We have a PlaySpace at the rear of church for babies and toddlers and Scramblers and Explorers for older children. We serve freshly brewed, fairly traded tea and coffee with biscuits (and sometimes homemade cakes!) after the 10.30 service.

Most evening services in the parish are at St George’s, including Choral Evensong on most 2nd Sundays of each month, and a Taize service on 3rd Sunday evenings of each month. Other Sundays we offer a said service of Evening Prayer with a Thought for the Day (and hymns may be sung unaccompanied!) On the first Sundays of each month we go to All saints for a Celtic Communion (from September 2015).

We have modern toilet facilities, including one adapted for wheelchair users and others with physical disability and a baby changing unit, and a hearing-aid loop is fitted to the church P.A. There are no steps into the church building or to the Communion rail. We use a lot of multi-media e.g. all hymns are projected onto screens around the church - but do ask for a hymn book if you prefer. There are also Bibles available in each of the pews.

We believe that our modern and very efficient heating system makes us the warmest church building - certainly the warmest Anglican building - on the Isle of Man!

We are open during the day Tuesdays - Fridays, 9.30 - 1.30 every week, and our church is rich in history: please call in for a look round: there is a church history available for £1.
