The original church of St. Stephen's was built in 1838 under Bishop Ward.  Its design was unique in that it was one of the first dual purpose built churches which incorporated a school room in the same structure.  A complete rebuilding was undertaken in 1858 when the nave was extended and the school room became the church hall.  Extensive renovations took place in 1975-96 and an ongoing steady programme of maintenance and renewal has ensured the continuance of this attractive and well maintained church that we enjoy today.

With a seating capacity of 100 it is an appropriate size for the village community.

The integrated church hall can be accessed through the church and has a separate entrance.  It has a well equipped kitchen and toilets.  The hall is used by the Church for its own social functions and is let out for community use during the week.
