St Simon & St Jude
Welcome! ‘Our churches here in Blidworth and Rainworth are working together with God, enabling relationships in community’
Our vicar is Revd Zoe Burton
Along with our vicar, we seek to offer a safe space for people to meet with God and find their home within God’s family. Whether you consider yourself to have no faith or you are new to faith, or have been a Christian for a long time, all are welcome here. We extend an invitation to all people to come and experience God’s love for you!
St Simon and St Jude is open, every week, for Sunday services at 10.30am. Our service pattern alternates between Morning Prayer (1st & 3rd Sunday of the month) and Holy Communion (2nd & 4th Sunday of the month). At the moment, the 1st & 2nd Sundays are Singing Sundays and we invite people to wear a facemask during singing unless you are exempt; on the 3rd & 4th Sundays - No Singing Sundays, we invite you to reflect upon the words of hymns as our organist plays. We ask you to wear a facemask, unless exempt, when you come into and out of church or when you are moving in church or at services when we are singing. On our No Singing Sundays, whilst seated, you can choose whether you wish to remove or keep your facemasks on . Hand sanitiser is available and we are now using all the pews, but saying this, there is plenty of room to ensure that there is social distancing between each person/family bubble.
We host a weekly online Zoom Sunday service usually at 10.30am and some of these are blended service with the service which is running at the same time in the church building. All are welcome to join us onsite or online - for the online service, please email [email protected] for a Zoom invite and link. The church has remained and continues to remain very much alive during the Covid 19 pandemic: Morning Prayer services are currently online on Zoom and you can Night Prayer on Wednesday evenings on Facebook - this is accessed through the Church Facebook page and this website. The church is active in prayer and worship, supporting families through funeral ministry, in pastoral care, the foodshare projects: supporting and meeting needs and partnership with other organisations in our communities.
We have recently re-opened Coffee Shop on alternate 2nd and 4th Fridays and every Saturday between 10am - 12 noon. The Church is available every Saturday between 10am-12 noon for quiet reflection, space to still & pray and/or light a candle.
If you would like to give a donation or you are new to our online services or have been joining us for a while and are enjoying our online services and would like to give for our ongoing work in serving our communities, you will see below that you can now give online.
