Peter Henry Steps Down as Churchwarden After 11 Years of Dedicated Service

After over a decade of dedicated service to Christ Church, Peter Henry has decided to step down as Churchwarden. Over the past 11 years, Peter has been instrumental in shaping the church’s future while preserving its rich history. From managing significant projects like the church’s new lighting system and bell sound systems to helping the church secure prestigious recognitions like the Naylor Award and the Silver Eco Award, Peter's contributions have been nothing short of transformative.

Reflecting on his time as Churchwarden, Peter shared, "One of my first major challenges was dealing with the aftermath of the Boxing Day floods. It was a real test of resilience, but we came together as a community and rebuilt stronger. I’ve also really enjoyed helping the church evolve, particularly with the introduction of our digital platforms."

Peter has been at the forefront of embracing new technology for Christ Church, putting the church onto Facebook and Instagram and enhancing its website, which now serves as a window to the world. His forward-thinking ideas, such as the live streaming of services, have allowed the church to reach not only the housebound but also a global audience, ensuring that those unable to attend can still be part of the church community.

“Peter has been instrumental in connecting the church with the wider community,” says **Revd. Tommy**. “His leadership during the interregnum was invaluable, and he’s been an incredible support to me as I’ve settled into parish life. His dedication has left a lasting legacy, particularly in how the church now communicates and engages with people far and wide.”

Peter has also been a driving force behind transforming the annual Rushbearing Fair into a vibrant Craft Fair, bringing more visitors to the church. Most recently, he introduced coloured lighting that can set the mood of the church building, adding to the church’s aesthetic appeal during special services and events.

As Peter steps down, he leaves behind a lasting mark on the church and its congregation. His commitment to enhancing both the spiritual and community life at Christ Church is something we will always cherish.

Peter’s contributions, vision, and dedication will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to guide us in the years to come. Thank you, Peter, for your faithful service to Christ Church.
