Ecclesiastical Movement for Good awards have returned. £1,000 could make a big difference to the work we do in Sowerby Bridge.The awards are designed to give eligible charities in the UK and Republic of Ireland the financial assistance they need to help them make a real difference. In total, 500 charities stand to gain £1,000 and we’d love to be one of them. At the start of the National lockdown in 2020 we had to put a stop to our coffee mornings, however we did carry on meeting on our ever popular virtual coffee morning, which were held via zoom.Now that lockdowns have, for the time being anyway, have come to an end, the church council have decided that now is the right time to reintroduce them.From 16th November our coffee morning time table is:Tuesday Morning, 10am till 1120 am, will be our new digital cafe, if you are having any sort of issues, or want to learn something new, then why not call in for a brew and a natter, whilst also asking our friendly team a question or two on any IT related issues you maybe experiencing Saturday Morning, 10am till 12noon, is our usual coffee morning, again why not call in for a drink, or maybe a look around the buildingBoth our coffee mornings are still keeping social distancing measures in place.If your still not up for venturing out, then we are carrying on with the virtual coffee morning's again via the link below, they will run from 10am till 11am, so a good way to keep in touch with everyone and still have a catch up, you just need to bring your own coffee.The link to join this is https://bit.ly/CCSBCoffeeMorningFor anymore information, please use our contact us form at https://bit.ly/CCSBsayHello
Due to COVID, we were unable celebrate Christmas as we would normally, this also meant that our annual Christmas Fair was unable to take place.As restrictions start to ease for us all, the PCC have decided that they would like to try and bring some normality back to our lives this Christmas. To start with we will be holding our Annual Christmas fair again, this will be held in church on Saturday 4th December between 10am and 3pm.We also want to support any local crafters so if you would like a free stall, please do get in touch, we do however ask for a donation towards the upkeep of the church.Why not bring your family down and see what gift ideas we have in church? This year Christ Church are taking part in Heritage Open Day. This is our first online and in person event. <strong>On Saturday 18<sup>th</sup> September</strong> church will be open from <strong>10am till 3pm</strong> for you to explore and find out how food and it’s production has changed in the last 200 years.To join in online, why not head over to our website, where you will find a wealth of information as well as the history of our church.We will look back in history to what both the rich and poor Victorians ate, We also look at the Rhubarb Triangle as well as two local foods, Yorkshire Pudding and Lancashire Hotpot. As a Fairtrade church, we take a look at Food choices today: Environment, Ethics and Social Justice.Christ Church is the parish church of Sowerby Bridge. This year we celebrate our 200<sup>th</sup> anniversary of the current building, take a look at the Victorian stained-glass windows, as well as our unusual horseshoe gallery.Whilst in the town, why not take a walk to the Puzzle Hall Community Pub in partnership with the Sowerby Bridge High Street Heritage Action Zone, as they host the Sowerby Bridge Dish poll and award ceremony.With regards to the current situation with COVID, the church council have set up a one-way system in church, which we ask that you kindly follow.
