St Edward the Confessor Church offers central Anglican worship at its best. Within the immediate vicinity are Anglo-Catholic churches and a Charismatic church, therefore St Edward’s meets the needs of those looking for something in-between. One of the strengths of St Edward’s is that it is a very friendly and welcoming church, South Yorkshire people are noted for their warmth and hospitality and this is part of their “evangelism” the social life and the sharing of food is very important to them, this has led to people coming for a social event and becoming part of the worshipping community. Their evangelism is “friendship” evangelism; they encourage people to belong and to then hopefully believe. There is a need for more young people, children and families and this will be the focus for future mission events. But also being aware that whilst welcoming people through the front door, they do not want to lose anyone through the back door.
