The Sunday morning eucharist service is fairly traditional with a mixture of formality and relaxed informality as appropriate.

2nd & 4th Wednesdays - Friendship Group in the hall @ 14.30 – 16.30
Many members live alone and appreciate the opportunity to meet others informally for tea, biscuits and a chat. Sometimes there are arranged activities such as games, quizzes or craft activities or perhaps a speaker. Sometimes small groups are formed to go to a local venue for lunch outside meeting times

Stay for a coffee and a chat with others or simply call in for a supply of our delicious Homemade cakes, buns, sausage rolls also quiches to take away. Toasted fruit bread and bacon sandwiches are normally on offer for those seeking a late breakfast or a take away lunchtime snack.

4th Sunday in the month

The church has started to hold the Cutler Cafe on the last Saturday of every month between 10am to 12 noon.We held the first one in January and it was a great success.

The cafe is named in honour of Sir Gervase and Lady Magdalen Cutler who are buried in St. James's chapel. The Cutlers were possibly the most eminent couple who have ever lived in Silkstone Parish, Lady Magdelen was a direct descendent of Henry VII and her husband a prominent supporter of Charles I.

We serve filter coffee, a selection of teas, homemade cakes and Canon Hall farm shop currant teacakes with home made jam in the chancel of our ancient parish church. As well as selling tempting drinks and cake there is a wealth of information in Silkstone church concerning the rich history of the parish.

Everyone is very welcome to enjoy sampling our food and drink, meet up with family and friends and to discovering more about village history.

When there is a 5th Sunday in the month a service of Holy Communion with hymns is held at 11.00am at each benefice church in turn. Everyone, of any age, is welcome.

We offer companionship and a three course home cooked meal once a month, for senior citizens. Places limited due to small kitchen facilities but we welcome enquiries from anyone interested in attending, assisting with transport or serving.
