Getting here

St Johns is a lovely little Mission Church in the Purewell area of Christchurch.  Miss Mary Long purchased the land on which it stands for £200.00 and the church cost a further £800.00 to build.  The church had its first service in February 1881 but the first Holy Communion service was not held until and altar was installed in March 1928.  As well as the services, the church is open for tea, coffee and cake every Wednesday from 10.30am until 12 noon.  Also on Saturday mornings we have a sale of books and bric-a-brac (weather permitting), during which the church is open for cleaning and prayer.

A lot of renovation has been going on here recently and after 130 years, we now have a toilet much to the delight (and relief) of the congregation.  The path from the pavement to the church door has been completely renewed with tiles and now looks very smart.  Other renovations have also taken place and we would love to point them out to you when you visit.
