Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of the most important few days in the Christian year.

It remembers the night when Jesus shared his final meal with his friends — what we now call the Last Supper. On that same night, he did something unexpected: he knelt down and washed their feet.

It’s from this moment we get the word “Maundy”, from the Latin mandatum, meaning commandment — because Jesus gave a new command:

“Love one another, as I have loved you.”

This isn’t just about remembering a meal.
It’s about remembering a way of life.

A life shaped by:
• humility instead of status
• service instead of power
• love that gives itself away

Maundy Thursday is quiet. Reflective. Honest.

It reminds us that faith isn’t just something we believe — it’s something we do.

This year at St Anne’s, we’ll be marking Maundy Thursday together with a traditional, reflective service as we begin the journey toward Easter. You are also invited to stay after the service for a time of personal reflection and quiet.

You’d be very welcome to come — whether it’s been years, or never before.
