Holocaust Memorial Day 2026

The church will be open from 10.00 am for quiet prayer and reflection to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. At 3.00 pm there will be a short, reflective service remembering victims of the Holocaust and other genocides.

27th January has been chosen as the International Holocaust Memorial Day as it is the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camps in the winter of 1945. On that day the camps still held some 7,000 prisoners. Over a million people deported to Auschwitz perished there. It is estimated that six million Jews were exterminated in the death camps.
