Christian Aid Week - beginning this Sunday 11 May

Jane Bugg writes……

I think we all know that there are many people in the world who do not have enough to eat or homes to live in because of natural disasters or floods or war or terrorism or greed and mis-use of power.

Christian Aid funds projects and people direct to provide education and tools – and the need is even greater because of the reduction by our government of overseas aid, decisions in the U.S.A. and political and economic instability world wide.

The Five Alive Parish has supported Christian Aid for several years. To make a donation to Christian Aid this year, please …..

Find envelopes for cash or cheques and information on how to give on-line at the back of our churches from Sunday 11 May

Go to Wyre Piddle Village Hall on Tuesday morning 13 May from 10.30am to 12noon. Entry is £2 for endless coffee, tea and biscuits. There will be a cake stall and raffle. Everyone is welcome to come along and join the Wyre Piddle Tuesday Coffee Club and raise funds for Christian Aid. Your support for this will be much appreciated.

If you can bring a cake, raffle prize or gifts that can be sold, please get in touch with Wendy: 07740 436646.

Go to Coffee & Cake in Fladbury Social Club on Friday morning 23 May where there will be a “RED” Bring & Buy Stall and Raffle from 9.30am to 12.30pm, raising funds for Christian Aid.

Cropthorne Walkabout

Many thanks to everyone who helped in making Cropthorne Walkabout last weekend such a successful and happy occasion.

The displays of flowers in the church were beautiful and admired by all.

Thanks too to everyone who once again supported this wonderful event.

Eco Church - caring for God’s creation

Since it is Christian Aid Week, we will focus on the words of Christian Aid CEO, Patrick Watt:
“The human suffering caused by the climate crisis reflects political choices. There is nothing natural about the growing severity and frequency of droughts, floods and storms. Disasters are being supercharged by decisions to keep burning fossil fuels, and to allow emissions to rise. And they’re being made worse by the consistent failure to deliver on financial commitments to the poorest and most climate-vulnerable countries. In 2025 we need to see governments leading, and taking action to accelerate the green transition, reduce emissions, and fund their promises.”
