Pews News 1 June 2025
Collect for 7 th Sunday of Easter
O God the King of glory,
you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ
with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:
we beseech you, leave us not comfortless,
but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us
and exalt us to the place where our Saviour Christ

is gone before,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

church floor repairs and retarmacking a stretch

I have a friend who was in Liverpool celebrating last
Bank Holiday Monday – meeting up with friends and
family and enjoying the simple pleasures of getting
together for a happy occasion.

Another shocking and almost incomprehensible event
in our world along with all the ongoing conflicts,
terror and horror happening everywhere.
We feel so helpless.

The prophet Isaiah wrote of the violent society

around him:

They are swift to shed innocent blood……
acts of violence mark their ways.
The way of peace they do not know;
there is no justice in their paths.
We look for light, but all is darkness;
for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.

(Isaiah 59: 7,8,9)
So we say: God, send your peace.
Peace to this world,
Peace to this country,
Peace for my friends and my community,
Peace for my family and my loved ones.
God give me your peace,
And then help me to give it away. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
surround us with your love,
protect us from evil
and fill us with your Holy Spirit
that we may walk in the way of Christ
and grow in the knowledge of your love. Amen.

As administrator I have been around for a good few
years now and have got to know more people in the
Benefice. It is a great joy to work with and for Claire,
the wardens and everyone I have met. If I was asked
to sum it up I would say I am always met with warmth

and commitment.

I attend the Benefice Council meetings which are
businesslike, always relaxed and full of fun and with
members showing great respect for others’ differing

views and opinions.

Why am I saying this you may be wondering?
Revd Claire is keen that the members of our
congregations should get to know each other more by
attending services in other churches. June’s Benefice
Communion Service is in Upton Snodsbury on 15 June
at 10.30am. Claire would love to have a full
house……it is Trinity Sunday and I have been told that
writing a sermon for that day is particularly
demanding. Why not give it a go and support her and

the loyal band at St Kenelm’s?
I would love to advertise any events connected with
our Benefice churches. Please do contact me on
[email protected] and I will endeavour
to include your event in The Pews News.
