Collect for 4 th Sunday after Trinity
O God, the protector of all who trust in you,
without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy:
increase and multiply upon us your mercy;
that with you as our ruler and guide
we may so pass through things temporal
that we lose not our hold on things eternal;
grant this, heavenly Father,
for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

An Invitation

You are all invited to the Annual General meeting of
FOSN (Friends of St Nicholas Church) in Peopleton on
Thursday 17 July at 7.00pm in the church.
You don’t have to live in Peopleton to come along,
you will find it interesting and you may learn how in
15years we have raised £250,000 for the benefit of
our small and beautiful church.
We will have a speaker Jane Chamberlain who
recently completed our quinquennial review.
Also wine and always tasty nibbles will conclude the
evening with the chance to have a chat with others.

Please do come along.

Please ring Les Bailey if you have any queries.
His phone number is: 07976 894997
As I said last week, summer can offer us time out to
think and reflect on life and the universe. So following
on from last week’s random thought, I offer now one
of my all-time favourites. I have shared it in The Pews
News before. For me it is so inspiring however many
times I read and reread it. This Sanskrit
prayer/poem/meditation offers such an
uncomplicated view on life - a good way to live.

Look well to this day,
for it is life,
the very best of life.
In its brief course lie all
the realities and truths of existence,
the joy of growth
the splendour of action
the glory of power.
For yesterday is but a memory
and tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, if well-lived makes
every yesterday a memory of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day.
A prayer for every day
O Lord God,

grant that each one who has to do with me today,

may be the happier for it.

Let it be given me each hour today what I shall say
and grant me the wisdom of a loving heart that I may

say the right thing rightly.

Help me to enter into the mind of everyone who talks
to me and keep me alive to the feelings of others.
Give me a quick eye for little kindnesses that I may be
ready in doing them and gracious in receiving them.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
School holidays mean that our local food banks are in
urgent need of donations for families struggling with
feeding children at home instead of receiving school
meals. There are collection boxes in The Pantry and St
Nicholas Church, both in Peopleton or at the
collection points available in most supermarkets.
