Church of England Diocese of Worcester Hanley Castle with Hanley Swan

St Mary

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, St. Mary's is only open for private prayer while services are paused at the moment, however you can join our regular online services every day, and on Sunday at

We are a friendly and welcoming church and active in reaching out to the local community.

We run a Messy Church (jointly with St Gabriel's, Hanley Swan) a fun monthly craft-based group (Crafty Castles) as well as a Women's Fellowship, a Lent Group and occasional 'Beer and Ethics' evenings.

In addition, we regularly host exhibitions for Festival of Churches and a Nativity Exhibition at Christmas.

St Mary's Church works very closely with St Gabriel's in Hanley Swan, and also St James, Welland, and we regularly have joint services. We work closely with the other Church of England churches in the Hope Church Family. We do our best to support each other's events and share activities where it makes sense. This is particularly the case with what we do for young people. To find out more, please visit our benefice website and follow the youth and children's links there.

Apart from Easter, Christmas and occasional special Sundays like Remembrance Sunday, our service pattern is as follows:

First Sunday of the Month                    Evensong 6:30pm

Second Sunday of the Month              Holy Communion (BCP) 8am

Third Sunday of the month                  Matins 11am

Fourth Sunday of the month               Holy Communion 8am

Fifth Sunday of the Month Benefice Service - see calendar.
