What to Expect
The following information is for anyone planning a visit to St Peter’s, Lapal, so you know what to expect on a Sunday morning. Whoever you are, we hope you will feel completely at home with us.
Where and When
We gather in the church building for our Sunday Morning Service at 9.30am. When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed at the door by members of our friendly Welcome Team. Sit wherever you feel most comfortable — we’re a relaxed and open congregation and delighted to have you with us.
There is plenty of parking available, so you won’t need to worry about finding a space.
After the service, refreshments are served in the church hall. You’re warmly encouraged to stay if you’d like to — it’s a lovely opportunity to meet people and take a look around.
Accessibility
There is wheelchair access through both the main church door and the Church Hall. We also have a hearing loop available for anyone who needs it. Just let a member of the Welcome Team know when you arrive and they’ll be happy to help.
The Church Hall has disabled-access toilets, ensuring that visitors with additional needs are fully supported.
Our Sunday Morning Service
The service begins at 9.30am with a welcome from the Priest or a Lay Minister. We often celebrate birthdays and special anniversaries — though there’s no pressure to share yours unless you want to.
We sing a mixture of traditional and contemporary hymns, hear readings from the Bible, and listen to a reflection from a member of the ministry team. This usually helps us explore the meaning of the readings and how they connect with our lives today.
Prayers are led by a member of the congregation before we share God’s peace. Many people shake hands, while others prefer a smile, wave or sign — whatever feels right for you.
Everyone is welcome to come forward to receive communion (bread and wine), or you may choose to receive a blessing instead. If you prefer a blessing, simply bring your service booklet with you or bow your head as you approach. If you would like communion brought to your seat, just let the Welcome Team or the Priest know when you arrive.
What About Children and Young People?
Children are very welcome at all our services — please don’t worry about noise or movement. We have a children and young people’s area, with comfortable seating for grown-ups, carers and breastfeeding mums, along with toys, books and activity sheets to keep little ones happily occupied.
