Thought for the week - Awesome Grandeur

Notices Church_news

Dear Friends,

Hope you are enjoying the hot weather – and if not that you find a nice cool spot to escape it! If you’ve got holidays coming up then I pray for travelling mercies and a wonderful time of rest. If not then enjoy the peace of the Acasters and Appleton Roebuck in summer.

The Thought for the Week is all about mountains with a link to a favourite hymn … open the attachment to find out more!

NOTE FROM AREA DEAN: FINANCES “ROADSHOW”

I would definitely commend the LCS and FWO update meetings (Next one at Christ Church Heworth) to CWs and any PCC members or indeed anyone who wants a clearer understanding of the financial situation as it relates to mission and ministry in the Diocese. There will be opportunity to put members of the Senior Leadership Team on the spot about finances and ask searching questions about (among other things) pooled Diocesan costs, Church Commissioner funds, parishes in vacancy, areas of significant deprivation and the cost of bishops.

As you may have heard, the proposed increase in clergy stipends was announced on Monday at a higher rate than had been anticipated, so this has an impact on the financial projections. The new figures will be uploaded, together with FAQs based on what emerges at all these update meetings by the end of June. It will all be uploaded to this page: https://dioceseofyork.org.uk/our-diocese/living-christs-story/

At the end of the meeting, there will be leaflets available for every parish in the archdeaconry, so that the information is available to parishioners who are interested but can’t be at the meeting.
