Dear Friends, What delightful weather we are having! Together with every other gardener, I’ve been nurturing seedlings hoping that they will bear fruit in their season. Gardening is a great illustration of faith, on so many levels. We need to weed our faith, fertilise it, prune it and water it. We can do that by following the six Rhythms of Life – praying and reading the Bible, worshipping with other believers, loving one another, being generous, sharing the Good News and adopting patterns of rest. In this weather you only need to neglect your garden a little while and tender new shoots will wither while robust and opportunistic weeds grow up! It’s the same with faith. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us not to neglect meeting together, so that we can encourage one another and grow as Christians. Dear Friends,An eventful week so far. His Holiness Pope Francis died, and Catholics and other Christians the world over mourn his passing. Peace in Ukraine seems further away than ever as the USA threatens to wash its hands of the whole thing (again). Earthquakes shake Istanbul and the High Court agrees the definition of a woman. Prince Louis turns seven and the Birmingham bin strike rumbles on. Who knows what else will have happened by the time you read this?However, I can promise that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease (Genesis 8:22). And natural disasters aside, the following services and events will take place in Acaster Malbis, Appleton Roebuck and Acaster Selby!Oh and my Thought for the Week, on the Resurrection, is attached. Dear Friends,Holy Week Greetings to all!We have a full programme of services during Holy Week and over Easter in our AAA Benefice. Philip and Rachel from Holy Trinity together with Jenny from All Saints have been busy being scientists (Professor Prism, Dr Hope and Dr Ember respectively) at The Miracle Labs, St Giles Copmanthorpe this week. It’s been fun showing children and families how science can help us to understand the eternal truths of faith. We are looking forward to hosting the Archbishop at All Saints Appleton Roebuck on Good Friday. I hope he likes making Easter Gardens!Michael has written an Easter Thought for us all, and it’s attached to this email.REMINDER FOR HOLY TRINITY PEOPLE: The final date for closing the Electoral Roll is the 19th April (Easter Saturday) please ensure that Yvonne Cook has your application form by this date.
