Tenebrae

The name ‘Tenebrae’ is the Latin word for darkness or shadows and has for centuries been used at the night office during Holy Week.

This service is marked by a reading from the Book of Lamentations and the gradual extinguishing of candles until a single candle, considered a symbol of the Lord, remains.

High Mass of the Last Supper

The Solemnity of Maundy Thursday will be marked with a High Mass at 7:30pm. Following mass, there will be a procession with the blessed sacrament to the Altar of Repose where exposition will take place until Midnight.

Mass of the Pre-Sanctified

On Good Friday the full Eucharist is not celebrated; the Gifts are already "presanctified" from Maundy Thursday.
During the mass, the cross will be venerated and the choir will sing the Passion narrative.

Easter Vigil
