About Us

St Helen is the parish church in the united benefice of St Helen with St Martin. This medieval church in York's city centre is occasionally  open when you are welcome  to look around, spend some quiet time in prayer or meditation, or attend a service. It is situated in a prime position at the bottom of Stonegate in St Helen's Square, opposite the Mansion House and Bettys.

Every Saturday at noon there is a Eucharist with hymns and music. This is supporetd by our Choral Scholars in University term time.

We have temporarily suspended (due to Covid) our  Wednesday service at 4.30pm. We hope to resume it soon. It is a quiet reflective service comprising music & prayers and lasts about 30 minutes.

There are additional services from time to time on feast days and special occasions. We also run a summer season of concerts at lunchtimes and afternoons.
