Fairtrade Fortnight 2025: “Do it Fair, Brew it Fair” 22 September – 5 October

For the past 30 years there has been a Fairtrade Fortnight, to promote and celebrate the difference we can make when we choose Fairtrade and campaign as part of a UK-wide movement calling for a fairer system behind the things we consume every day.

This year’s campaign is focusing particularly on the tea industry, and workers’ rights. In March 2025, the Fairtrade Foundation and Fairtrade Africa carried out research with tea growers and pickers in Kenya. They say their biggest challenges they face now are having enough money to pay for food and education for their families, and the increasing impacts of the changing climate.

They said the Fairtrade Premium* helped them fund education and healthcare, community improvements such as schools and roads, and additional projects such as training in beekeeping and growing other crops to adapt to climate change. 

*The Fairtrade Premium is the amount a farmer earns on top of the Fairtrade Minimum Price. It is paid to the local producers’ organisation, who vote on where to spend it.

How can we get involved?

The Fairtrade Foundation is asking us all to buy Fair Trade tea wherever possible, and to sign a petition asking the UK government to do what it can to ensure the people growing and picking our tea can have living incomes, and are protected from the impacts of climate change. You can sign the online petition at www.fairtrade.org.uk/do-it-fair/
