After much delay, a faculty to repair the St Mary's lychgate has been granted and the parochial church council is awaiting the return of the gates by the recommended contractor.

W Calvert Ltd, of North Ferriby, is undertaking the repair work, which was expected to take about a month. 

Initially the PCC sought permission to replace the oak gates with like-for-like replicas but the Diocesan Advisory Committee considered that a repair was more appropriate.
