Celebrate Summer in Suffolk with an evening of music in one of the county’s most picturesque settings. Bring a picnic to have before or after in the church grounds. A bar will be open from 6pm and during the interval. Brother Tree Sound String Quartet, one of the country’s most innovative and exciting chamber groups, will play a programme of music called ‘Live, Love, Laugh’ featuring quartets by Imogen Holst, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and a surprise piece about Suffolk. You’ll have to come along to hear what that is!
The Musicians
Described as 'vivid and intense' (Arts Desk album review 2025) and playing with 'unfettered passion and a sense of forward momentum' (BBC Music Magazine 2025) Brother Tree Sound formed in 2017 out of a love for the powerful intimacy of the string quartet. The group’s members are deeply connected by a passion to explore the great canon of the string quartet repertoire whilst staying tuned to the continuous shifting landscape of today's classical music scene. With three albums generating over 10 million streams worldwide, a recent sold-out debut at Kings Place London, a grant from the Vaughan Williams Foundation, and with numerous performances in music clubs, on concert platforms, at music festivals, outdoor stages and folk music clubs, the group is blazing a trail, inspiring audiences through their projects and performances. As a reviewer of their King’s Place concerts wrote: ‘The players were completely committed, whether tapping their instruments, playing harmonics or getting growls and whimpers out of their instruments […] a real tour de force.’
In 2025, the group released an album of early 20th-century French quartets by Ravel, Tailleferre, Milhaud, and Durey with First Hand records. The album has received acclaim from both national and international critics who commented on the 'fine attentive performances' (MusicWeb International), while another described it as 'beautifully integrated' (Australian Strings Association). Furthermore, it gained 4 stars review in BBC Music Magazine.

About Music in Country Churches
For 37 years, Music in Country Churches has been organising concerts of exceptional music in rural churches in England and Wales. This year, the Charity will hold a total of twelve concerts, with visits to eleven churches in Country Durham, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Northamptonshire, Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Devon, East Sussex, Somerset, and Norfolk.
Music in Country Churches was set up in 1989. The Charity is honoured to have His Majesty The King as its Patron.
The Charity aims to support the arts, culture, and historical heritage of countryside communities. It works with a range of ensembles and musicians, and is particularly keen to give concert opportunities to young and emerging performers.
Following each concert, a donation is made to the church to help with maintaining the building and carrying out essential repairs. Since it began, Music in Country Churches has made donations to more than 60 country churches, distributing £620,000 to support the maintenance work needed on church buildings
