Accessibility

We are a supportive and inclusive church for those with disabilities including hidden disabilities. There is access to ear defenders at the Welcome Area, that can be borrowed whilst in the church. Safeguarding is foundational to us; therefore, the well-being of children and adults alike is a priority at Hull Minster. Our welcome desk is available for your support.

We have one accessible paid parking bay on the North Church Side, which is on Hull Minster's land. Parking is paid for by “Just Park” App. There are also some disabled parking bays on South Church Side.

Although we do have a ramp on the North Church Side, it is at the North Door entrance, which needs more than one person to open two heavy doors and navigate a small step.
We strongly recommend that our visitors who need an accessible entrance use our step free West Doors in the Trinity Square.

We are sight-impaired friendly, and our Welcome Volunteers will always inform visitors if there are any events or obstacles around church to enable everyone to have a smooth visit. There is plenty of space to walk around but some of our floors are uneven. We do not offer braille.

Good level access to most of the Minster but a steep ramp into the Chancel.
For our visitors to be aware of - our North and South Choir aisle, and the East end of the church the floors are uneven, however, this area is still accessible.

Our tower does not have a lift. There are 180 small spiral steps to the top so is not easily accessible.

We have one wheelchair available.

We are in easy reach of bus stops, and approximately 1/2 mile from the Hull Interchange for trains and buses.

We are a supportive church for people with hidden disabilities, and we have ear defenders that can be borrowed, whilst in the church, from our 'Welcome Area' at the West doors of the church.

We have two spaces that are quiet, to light candles or to just sit - our Chancel and Broadley Chapel. These are both accessible. The Chancel has a ramp.

There are dairy free options, upon request, in our Hull Minster Cafe.

We do have an advocate for people with different learning abilities, who can be contacted if needed.

There are spaces to drop off both on the South and North Church Side.

We do have Chaplains in church who can be seen if needed.

Gluten-free options are served in the Hull Minster Café. Gluten free wafers are available at Communion. Alcohol free wine is available at Communion too.

Assistance dogs are welcome in our church and cafe.

We welcome everyone.

We are dementia aware.

The traditional metal coil system doesn’t work within Hull Minster.
Our system does require the use of a smart phone and download of an app. We do carry spare phones.
If you have a t position then we can supply a neck loop, which can be hidden beneath a jacket if wished. This plugs into the phone and crystal-clear sound can be heard.
We also have headphones or if you have Bluetooth within your hearing aid then connecting to the phone is another possibility.
Our system means you will be able to hear the sound wherever you are sitting within Hull Minster.
The app is by Sennheiser and is called Mobile Connect. You can download it for android here or apple here.

On street metered parking and a small paid car park managed by Just Park, on the north side. Parking payable by app. There are plenty of city centre car parks nearby.
