Advent Procession and Carol Service

for 3 hours
Join us as we begin Advent with a Candlelit procession around Hull Minster accompanied by the Hull Minster Choir.

Advent is a season of expectation and preparation, as the Church prepares to celebrate the coming (adventus) of Christ in his incarnation, and also looks ahead to his final advent as judge at the end of time. The readings and liturgies not only direct us towards Christ's birth, they also challenge the modern reluctance to confront the theme of divine judgement.

Child Bereavement Candlelighting Service

for 1 hour

Candlelighting - this is a service specifically for those who have lost children or siblings. A short service with the lighting of candles. A time for reflection, and the sharing of memories amongst others in a similar situation. Light refreshments will be served.

Christingle Service

Christingle celebrations are named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top.

Our traditional candlelit service with carols and readings retelling the Christmas story.
The service begins in darkness with the voice of a lone chorister. As the congregation joins in, the church is lit by hundreds of candles. This year's readers are from the Law & Order community across the city.

The service lasts approximately one hour. No booking needed. Free seating. Donations welcome.

Traditional Midnight Mass as we remember the Christ Child born in the night, in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.


What is Midnight Mass? ⛪

This late-night service starts on Christmas Eve and often ends after midnight.

The service normally consists of carols and a short talk, as well as the celebration of Holy Communion (the blessing and sharing of bread and wine).
