St John's Harpenden
We are a friendly church. We have a fairly traditional but relaxed style of worship, and our all-age worshipping community aims to live out and share God’s love with those around us. We offer a warm welcome to all.
At present all our services are a mix of in-Church and/or online; our Sunday morning Parish Eucharist from 9:25am is for in-Church attendance or via our YouTube Channel; we have Morning Prayer Monday to Friday at 9:30am on Zoom and in Church; an in-Church only Evening Prayer on Mondays to Thursdays at 5pm and Holy Communion at 11am each Wednesday. We also have other services regularly, including 8am Sunday Communion on the first Sunday of the month and a special service for the younger amongst us - see our calendar, subscribe to our newsletter or email us for details. For services, we are wearing masks, operating social distancing and singing as a congregation on Sundays; we have our doors open to improve ventilation of our Church. Read our update for more information.
Our Church building is currently open for private prayer on Wednesdays from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm - Our YouTube video explains what to expect when you visit.
The parish of Harpenden: St John is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St Albans's safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
