Getting here

The Chapel of St Luke serves the staff and students of the University of Exeter, as well as the wider community.

The Community of St Luke is a community of people who wish to be formed in the deep wisdom of Jesus Christ. It was inaugurated and blessed by the Bishop of Exeter in 2012. We seek to be transformed through relationship and dialogue and follow a way of Prayer, Study, Hospitality and Compassion. The Community of St Luke has a distinct role to reach out to those beyond the University walls, through open access to services, lectures, events and resources.

The chapel was consecrated in 1863 as the place of worship for the Church of England Training College. It was destroyed during the bombing raids of 1942 before being rebuilt and rededicated in 1952. The chapel was reordered and refitted in 1998 in a warm and contemporary style.
