In Autumn 2024, our church was in peril. It had just been downgraded to a festival church due to lack of interest and with a tiny PCC to look after it, and no funds to employ people even to mow the churchyard, it faced decline and eventual closure.
These days, it’s a different story. We appealed to the village to join us, regardless of their faith, to preserve our church for its community and its worshippers. We now have a band of around 30 volunteers who pitch in with taking care of the church yard and the church itself. Some of them attend our services to support - our congregation has gone from around two to an average of 30-40 in a year. And we’re fundraising to pay for the emergency repairs which are needed to prevent even more deterioration of the building.
Our church is open daily for reflection, peace and prayer but small groups can also hire it for their clubs/classes for a small fee.
