Bio:
Andrew was a music scholar at King's College, Cambridge and studied piano with Dennis Murdoch at the Royal Academy of Music. Since retiring as a school Director of Music, latterly at Ipswich School, he has been able to devote more time to music making. Performances over the last two years have included: Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with Woodbridge Choral Society at Snape Maltings, directing and playing the solo piano part, both from memory; trios by Brahms and Glinka, Fauré’s Piano Quartet no. 1 with the Gainsborough Quartet, accompanying tenors Richard Edgar-Wilson and Keith Lewis, Stravinsky’s Petrushka with the Wolsey Orchestra and five piano recitals.

Andrew is conductor of Woodbridge Choral Society, with whom highlights in recent years have included: Verdi Requiem, Britten War Requiem, Mendelssohn Elijah, Mozart Requiem, Ben Ponniah Begin, Vaughan Williams Dona nobis pacem and Karl Jenkins The Armed Man, all at Snape Maltings concert hall. Andrew has also been musical director of a number of operas performed in Woodbridge: The King’s River, a community opera by Jana Rowland; L’elisir d’amore; The Magic Flute and Die Fledermaus, The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro and Hansel & Gretel. He is Chairman of Ipswich Chamber Music Society and organist at St Mary Elms, Ipswich. Andrew is often seen on his bike, as he cycles to musical gigs wherever possible. He also enjoys walking, especially up the Scottish hills.
