Keep Little Blakenham Church Alive

Hello everyone.

Although presently we are all in lockdown, the PCC are thinking ahead to a time when we are out of lockdown. With a new priest being appointed and the strong community support the church always receives at fundraising events, and at festival services we are keen to hear your thoughts and ideas regarding the future use of the church.

Like many other parish churches, planned community events and so fundraising has been affected by the Covid pandemic, Little Blakenham Church is no different.  The one thing Covid has taught us is the importance of caring and being part of a community. Little Blakenham Church is Grade I listed, and has served our parish for many centuries and is of historic importance, we need to ensure that it is still here for future generations. The PCC are keen to promote the Church being the centre of the community, but it is presently under used

Whilst the role of the church will always be predominately a place of religious worship, it is also a building to be used by its community. Society and village life is changing, and so is the church. It is time to re-evaluate our churches use, for example, our church use to have its own choir, Mother's Union and a Friends of Little Blakenham Church Fundraising Committee, could these be regenerated? Maybe think it would be nice to hold coffee mornings, history/craft/after school/photography clubs, or hold movie nights and get to know your neighbours? What do our children/teenagers want from the use of the church? whatever your ideas then please let us know.
