On this day we remember the triumphal journey that Jesus took into Jerusalem knowing that he would be tried and executed. The Bible tells us that crowds came to see Jesus enter the city and they were carrying palm branches which they threw down in front of him as a sign of respect.

We would normally be given a palm cross to carry in a procession into church. We take the palm cross home to help us remember Jesus' journey towards His crucifixion.

The last occasion when Jesus spent time with his disciples was at the Last Supper when they all shared a meal and where Jesus talked about His betrayal and final days. He also humbled himself by washing the feet of his disciples.

At this service we take time to reflect on the meal upon which our Eucharist (communion) service is founded. After the service we remain in solemn silence as the church is stripped of its dressings and ornaments in readiness for Good Friday.

On this day we remember that Jesus died on a wooden cross alongside two criminals after being condemned to death by a crowd. He made the ultimate sacrifice for our sake and the cross has become the symbol that Christians carry with them physically or in their hearts to remind themselves and others of Jesus' love for us.
At our 2pm service we will spend time reflecting on the cross being the focal point for our worship.

The hot cross bun was originally baked, as a symbol of the crucifixion, to be eaten on this day to mark the end of Lent.

This is a day of great celebration ending the more sober period of Lent and Holy Week. It is when we give thanks and praise that after dying on the cross and being buried, Jesus came to life again (resurrection) to live with us in spirit.
Our faith is based on knowing that Jesus is alive and is accessible through prayer. This Sunday marks the start of a period of exploring and learning about our faith and beliefs.
Watch out for the Easter Egg Hunt!
