About Us

St Mary at Stoke is a mixed congregation of all ages and backgrounds from a variety of nationalities learning what it means to be a follower of Jesus of Nazareth in our own time. We believe that no one is excluded from God’s love or God’s Church although we don’t always get it right; we are trying to do so in love and peace and a warm welcome awaits you at any of our services irrespective of gender, age or sexuality.

St Mary’s is a mix of Medieval and Victorian architecture with two churches joined together; in "normal" times we keep the church open during the day for people to visit, to pray or to seek peace and quiet in the business of the day. We meet on a Sunday at 8 am for a quiet service of Holy Communion in traditional language lasting for about 35 minutes. Our main service is a Parish Eucharist at 10 am which lasts for between 60 and 90 minutes with Sunday school gathering in the Church Hall for their own activities before joining us at the peace and in time for the Eucharistic Prayer where we gather as a community of all ages to take, to eat and to remember.
