Kesgrave Scarecrow Festival

(Scarecrow Trail, Cafe & Sunflower Growing Competition)
 29th August - 12th September 2026

We would like to invite you to take part in our second Scarecrow Trail and Festival. Similar to last year (which was a great success, all thanks to your amazing entries!!!!), we would encourage you, as individuals or groups, to make scarecrows to display outdoors at your home, school or workplace in Kesgrave to cheer our town.

The trail starts on Saturday 29th August (Bank Holiday weekend) and runs until Saturday 12th September. During this time, exhibits will be judged by our panel, and prizes will be announced and awarded at our Scarecrow Café on Saturday 12th September, from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, at All Saints Church, Main Road, Kesgrave, IP5 1AA.

Please feel free to be as creative as possible with characters of your choice.

In addition to last year, we have introduced a Sunflower Growing Competition, which was launched at our Spring Festival in May. Hopefully, your sunflowers are well on the way to producing great height and the largest flower heads! There is also a category for the Best Multi-Headed Sunflower and Young Gardner Award. (It is still possible to purchase sunflower plants from 87 Bell Lane if you've had problems.)If you would like to take part in either the Scarecrow Trail (29th Aug – 12th Sept) or the Sunflower Growing Competition, please register your entry by contacting [email protected]

All scarecrows will be included on our Scarecrow Trail map (with an online link to Google Maps), helping visitors find their way around the town. If you're entering a scarecrow, we'd be grateful if you could let us know its name and the address where it will be displayed, so we can include it on the map.

To enter the Sunflower Competition, please state the category you would like to enter:

Tallest Sunflower

Largest Sunflower Head

Best Multi-Headed Sunflower

Young Gardener Award

If you are entering the Young Gardener Award, please also state your name and age.We are launching our Scarecrow Festival ahead of the school summer holidays to give you plenty of time to be creative with your scarecrows, so that you have every chance of being successful in our fun competition in September.Good luck to you all, and ENJOY!

With all good wishes,
