Robin’s fundraising Lent Marathon

Robin is never thwarted, especially with great friends around! Mid-February, Robin declared he would March a Marathon over Lent in a fundraising drive. Unfortunately, Robin’s efforts were temporarily de-railed by his stroke, but Robin didn’t want to give up. He especially wanted to show his gratitude for the love shown to him this past week by raising money for good causes. And in stepped Carl Lawrence to help out. Now, between them, All Saints’ Marathon continues! Please support this wonderful pair in their fundraising efforts.

Robin now intends to safely walk half a marathon over the remaining days of Lent, and in the process gain the exercise recommended for his recovery. Meanwhile, Carl will march his half marathon at a brisk 4-5mph.

The funds from the marathon will be split equally between The Bishop's Lent Appeal for Kagera, Tanzania, and All Saints Lighting Appeal.

The diocese is linked with Kagera and funds will provide help for key workers such as farmers, doctors and priests. Our donations will support:

building rainwater tanks

employing specialist doctors for Murgwanza Hospital

supplying motorbikes for priests who travel long distances in parishes

All Saints Lighting Fund aims to raise £64,000 by mid-August to re-wire the entire church and install new lighting. This work is now urgent.

To support Robin and Carl please pay by all usual methods, see our website ‘Notices’ page for details https://www.askesgrave.org/notices.htm

, and importantly, please let Emma know by email that your donation should be allocated to the Lent Appeal.

Thank you all for your support! And thank you Robin & Carl.
