Church bells

The bells at All Saints were restored and rehung in a new frame in 2021 when four new bells were added to four of the previous peal of six which have been re-cast to create a peal of eight bells; the remaining two bells, which are over 500 years old, have been left in the original bell frame. One important feature of the bells is that they are rung in an anti-clockwise direction. It’s the way bells have been configured at Laxfield for centuries and is an uncommon set up.

To allow visitors to safely view the old bell frame and the two bells in it, a walkway has been constructed above the frame. The tower is open on market days (1st Saturday of the month) during the summer and on special occasions.
