About Us

St Peter's Church has its origins in the 13th century and has been added to in many ways over the following centuries. Whilst not an architectural 'gem', it has warmth and a welcoming feel; a typical country Church, set within its hedged churchyard and surrounded by farmland in east Suffolk. St Peter's receives many visitors who come from across the world. Those who visit often comment on the sense of peace and of a well-loved place with an obviously active congregation.

St Peter's is open during the hours of daylight and facilities include an accessible toilet and tea/ coffee making supplies and equipment.

St Peter's Blaxhall is part of the Alde River Benefice, with the churches in the villages of Benhall, Farnham with Stratford St Andrew, Great Glemham, Little Glemham, Snape and Sternfield. The Rev. Rachel Cornish is the Rector for the Benefice. She may be contacted at the Rectory in Great Glemham Road, Stratford St Andrew, 01728 768136, [email protected]

Most months, services at St Peter's comprise a service of Holy Communion at 11.00am on the second Sunday in the month and a Praise and Worship service at 10.00am on the 4th Sunday. However, there are occasional months when the service arrangements are slightly different and the calender of services (regular and one-off events) on this site for the appropriate date should be consulted for definitive information. Visitors are always most welcome.

The 'Friends of St Peter's Church' was launched during the 2017 Blaxhall Festival. The 'Friends of St Peter’s' has been established to create a network of those who are interested in being regularly kept informed about St Peter’s and its activities. ‘Friends’ receive:

• A periodic Newsletter • Invitations to Special Events, such as the Festival • A copy of the Annual Report & Financial Statement • An invitation to major Services (eg Easter, Harvest, Christmas) • Information about opportunities where you might be able to help with developments at St Peter’s.   There is no charge for joining the 'Friends'. Anyone who is interested in joining the 'Friends' should contact the PCC Secretary, as per the 'Contact Us' Tab above.
