St Gluvias Church

An Anglican place of worship in Penryn for over 700 years

We seek to worship God and to grow in faith, serving the people of the parish of St. Gluvias with Penryn – and the wider world – in the name of Jesus Christ. The church is open on Sunday and Tuesday morning’s for mass, however arrangements can be made for the church to be opened at other occasions for visitors to the area. The church also welcomes bell ringers to their practice sessions (Wednesday evenings) or on a Sunday ahead of mass.

On occasions when events and concerts are held in church, these will be publicised.

What's on

Fairwinds pattern of prayer and Holy Communion Ben Hudd

Occuring
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at for 1 hour
Venue
Address

I was challenged a few years ago (bearing in mind that I'm from an open evangelical background) by the centrality of the Eucharist in mission. In response, I've begun to develop a rhythm of Holy Communion at Fairwinds, as well as prayer. Each 1st & 3rd Tuesday and 2nd and 4th Thursday of normal term time at 9.15 am there is the opportunity to come together to celebrate Holy Communion at Fairwinds, with mission and justice as a theme (we'll never run out of Bible passages for that!); the methodist church is also hoping to join with this as well as other churches of differing denominations if that so wish. I have written a liturgy (enclosed) that both uses Common Worship, and where there is flexibility permitted, the themes of mission and justice are drawn upon.

Whilst I appreciate of course that churches will wish to keep their own midweek worship, I'm hoping that as many as possible will feel able to participate together in unity around a shared table in surroundings that are different for some perhaps.

Each Wednesday there will also be prayer at Fairwinds from 9 am - 10 am that all are welcome to join in with. This will have a missional focus and be instantaneous in nature (ie there will be no framework of liturgy used) and will draw upon what has been happening during the previous week.

Tuesday 1st and 3rd of month 9.15am, Wednesday weekly at 9.00am, Thursday 2nd and 4th month 9.10am Term time only

Learning Community Days.

There will also be three Learning Community days throughout the year for people to engage with, giving us some moments in time to pause, reflect, plan and dream a little.
