80th Anniversary of VE Day

Occurring
for 45 mins
Venue
St Gluvias Church
Address
Church Hill Penryn Falmouth, TR10 8AJ, United Kingdom

We will come together on this day to commemorate the anniversary of Victory in Europe. We come together conscious of our need for God’s forgiveness for the sin and the desire to dominate others that leads to conflict between people, and war between nations.

On the 8 th May 1945 bells rang out across Britain as the nation took to the streets in celebration of Victory in Europe Day. Eighty years later we celebrate this momentous occasion by inviting you to recreate that moment at 6:30pm local time and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might live in a free world.

St Gluvias Church

An Anglican place of worship in Penryn for over 700 years

We seek to worship God and to grow in faith, serving the people of the parish of St. Gluvias with Penryn – and the wider world – in the name of Jesus Christ. The church is open on Sunday and Tuesday morning’s for mass, however arrangements can be made for the church to be opened at other occasions for visitors to the area. The church also welcomes bell ringers to their practice sessions (Wednesday evenings) or on a Sunday ahead of mass.

On occasions when events and concerts are held in church, these will be publicised.
