Giving to the church

All donations will be greatly appreciated – as are gifts of people’s time and prayers. St Mawgan-in-Pydar Church has been a special place for many people over many centuries, and we hope it will continue to be a special place for many people in the future. As well as ministry, utilities, insurance and routine maintenance etc to pay for, the building urgently needs major repairs to its guttering and some of its roofs - you may have noticed the damp and green areas, particularly in the middle of each end of the building. This will cost several hundred thousand pounds. Many have given generously and we are applying for grants, but there is still a lot more to be raised.

If you wish to support St Mawgan-in-Pydar church financially there are a number of ways you can do this - choose whichever way is easiest for you:

Cash, cheques or card/contactless donations in church. The church can claim an extra 25% from the government on cash and contactless donations up to £30 in church without the need for Gift Aid elections.

On-line – click here or in the “Donate” box on the home page to make one-off or recurring donations online by card through our Give A Little page. Very simple to use and low charges (charges c.1.2p in the pound, 98.8p direct to the church). Allows Gift Aid elections.

Via the Parish Giving Scheme – tailor made for regular giving to Church of England churches. This includes the option to increase your giving by the cost of living each year and processes any Gift Aid quickly and automatically with no charges. It also offers a confidentiality option. Join online  here, by telephone (03330 021271) or on paper (forms available in church or from the Treasurer).

By a Standing Order set up by you directly with your bank – contact the Treasurer for the church’s bank details and how to do this. The Treasurer can also give you a Gift Aid election form if you are a UK tax payer. A number of regular donors already use this method and there is no need for them to change to another method.

You may also wish to leave a gift in your will to the church. Since needs change over the years, we encourage anyone leaving a gift in their will to give it for the general purposes of the church rather than for a restricted purpose. We can discuss possible uses of your gift with your executors when the time comes, bearing in mind your known areas of interest in the church and its work and the church’s priorities at the time. If you would like to talk to someone in confidence about the sorts of purposes your gift might fund, and how/if you would like your gift to be acknowledged, please contact Jackie Oglethorpe one of our churchwardens or alternatively the Treasurer. For contact details, see page "Who's Who at St Mawgan".

Thank you for considering giving to St Mawgan-in-Pydar Church.
