Details of our services for Ascension Day within the Benefice of LannPydar.

Ascension Day, also known as the Feast of the Ascension, for Christians, commemorates Jesus Christ’s ascension into heaven. According to Christian belief, this event took place in the presence of his eleven apostles, 40 days after the resurrection. It's mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible in both the Gospel of Mark and the Acts of the Apostles, providing a foundational scriptural basis for the observance.

Julian meetings are held at The Rectory on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm to share silence together.

Julian Meetings foster the practice of contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition and are named after Julian of Norwich, a fourteenth-century mystic.

In contemplative prayer, we seek to be aware of the presence of God and to remain silently and attentively in that presence. For those who are drawn to contemplative prayer, meeting with others in this way can be a great help and encouragement.
